Thousands of Dubai and UAE businesses are still running Panasonic KX, NEC UNIVERGE or Avaya IP Office systems that are 10–15 years old. Spare parts are increasingly scarce, firmware updates have stopped, and these legacy systems cannot connect to modern CRMs, mobile apps or cloud services. NetOn Technologies specializes in migrating UAE businesses from legacy PBX to modern Wildix or Sangoma systems — with minimal disruption and full number retention.

Signs Your Dubai PBX Needs Replacing

  • Your phones or PBX were installed more than 8 years ago
  • Spare expansion cards or handsets are hard to find or very expensive
  • Your PBX vendor has reached end-of-life (Panasonic KX-TDE/NCP, NEC SV8100/SV9100, Avaya IP500v2)
  • Staff cannot use their mobile phones as an extension
  • No remote working capability — staff must be in the office to use their extension
  • No integration with Zoho, Salesforce or your CRM
  • Call recording is limited or requires expensive add-ons
  • Frequent call quality issues or hardware faults

Migration Process — How NetOn Technologies Does It

  1. Audit: We document your current system — extension list, DDI numbers, call groups, IVR structure, call recording setup and SIP/ISDN trunks.
  2. Design: We design the replacement Wildix or Sangoma system to replicate all existing functionality and add new capabilities.
  3. Pre-configuration: The new system is fully configured and tested in parallel before your cutover — zero day-of surprises.
  4. Cutover: Cutover is scheduled outside business hours (evening or weekend). Your UAE phone numbers are moved to the new SIP trunk. Total cutover time is typically 2–4 hours.
  5. Handover & training: Staff training on the new system. Admin staff trained on the management portal.
  6. Ongoing support: AMC or Wildix/Sangoma support contract from go-live.

Frequently Asked Questions: PBX Upgrade Dubai

How long does a PBX migration take in Dubai?

Pre-migration preparation (design, configuration, testing) takes 1–2 weeks. The actual cutover is typically done overnight or over a weekend — 2–4 hours of planned downtime. For most Dubai businesses the migration is transparent to staff: they arrive at work with a new phone system that works exactly like their old one, plus new features.

Can I keep my existing Dubai phone numbers when upgrading?

Yes. Your existing Etisalat or du DDI numbers are ported to a SIP trunk as part of the migration. Number porting in UAE typically takes 5–10 business days and happens before the cutover date, so there is no number interruption.

Should I upgrade to Wildix or Sangoma?

Both are excellent modern IP PBX systems. Wildix is better if you want cloud-native, browser-based calling, mobile-first working and AI features via x-bees. Sangoma PBXact is better if you want on-premise control, maximum customisation and the lowest total cost of ownership for larger deployments. NetOn Technologies assesses your requirements and recommends the right platform — we are partners for both.

What happens to our old Panasonic/NEC handsets?

Legacy analogue and proprietary digital handsets cannot be reused on an IP PBX. NetOn Technologies supplies replacement IP phones or softphones (for laptop/mobile use) as part of the migration project. In most cases, replacing handsets is included in the migration quote.
